Attendance

  • For an optimum learning experience, it is best if students arrive several minutes before their lesson is scheduled.

  • If a student arrives late, their lesson time will not be extended.

  • If the teacher is late, the missed time will be made up at the end of the lesson or a makeup time granted.

Tuition Late Fee

  • Tuition is prepaid. A late fee of $15 will be applied for payments made after the start of a new semester or month.

Scheduling Matters Must Go Through Cadence Academy of Music's Front Desk

All scheduling matters (including but not limited to student lesson cancellations, conflicts, vacation plans, requests for a different lesson time, and discontinuing notice) are handled at the front desk through our front desk. If you have questions, concerns, or need to notify of an upcoming conflict, please see the front desk for assistance.

Student Cancellations & Providing 24-Hour Notice

A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to reschedule a lesson in order to receive a make-up lesson credit.

Requests made within 24 hours of the scheduled lesson time are not eligible for a make-up lesson, with no exceptions. This policy is consistently applied to all students to ensure fairness.

If unable to attend in person with less than 24 hours’ notice, an online lesson at the scheduled time is available.

All requests must be made through the front desk (not directly with the teacher). Make-up lessons are offered as a courtesy, subject to availability, and limited to 6 per year. They may be shared with siblings and expire upon withdrawal.

Makeup lesson credits cannot be applied toward future tuition.

Beginning September 1, 2025, make-up lessons may not be rescheduled.

Missed Lesson

If a student does not show up in lesson, there will be no refund or tuition credit.

Online Class Option

To accommodate a student’s change in schedule, they are allowed to request that their in-person lesson be held online. Advance notice via phone or email is required.

Substitute Teachers

  • If your regular teacher cannot attend your class because they are ill or dealing with an emergency, we will assign a substitute teacher.

  • Should a substitute teacher not be available, the class will be canceled, and you will be given a credit the following month for the missed lesson.

Summer Breaks

  • We understand that students may have various summer plans or vacations. You may hold your lessons for a maximum of 8 weeks. If a student takes a break longer than 8 weeks, it will be considered a dropout, and they will need to re-enroll and pay registration fee upon their return.

  • Your lesson time and teacher will be reserved only by pre-paying tuition for the upcoming month. After that, you may resume payments in the second month upon your return to lessons.

  • While on summer break, members may still purchase individual lessons. Please note that your annual Cadence Membership will still lapse during this break.

Withdrawal

  • Students are allowed to withdraw as long as they provide advance notice of 14 days.

  • Cadence reserves the right to refuse lessons to anyone. If the student has already enrolled, their tuition will be refunded on a prorated basis.

Physical Contact

Some physical contact, such as the teacher briefly touching the student's hands, wrists, forehead, upper back, or other non-threatening places for the purposes of teaching and adjusting posture, proper hand placement, proper instrument technique, and etc, are a common practice in music lessons. If you or your child are uncomfortable with this, please discuss your concerns and alternative methods with your/your child's teacher.

Responsibilities of Adult Students, Parents, or Guardians

Adult students, and parents or guardians of minor students are responsible for knowing the dates and times of all relevant school activities. These include recitals, viewing days, additional classes, and when we are open and closed. It is also their responsibility to let the school know of any changes in phone number or address.

Care and Supervision of Students

Cadence is not responsible for supervising or taking care of students before or after class. Parents are not allowed to leave students on their own before or after class unless proper supervision is in place.

Injuries

Cadence Academy of Music is not liable for any harm or injury to minor or adult students participating in activities at the school. Your signature on this waiver indicates your agreement to indemnify, release, defend, and permanently discharge the school, its teachers, and other employees from all claims, liability, damages, demands, costs, and other expenses should a minor or adult student sustain an injury during the course of, or as the result of any of our musical activities.

Media Consent & Image Release

Cadence Academy of Music is granted permission to use photos or videos of you or your child in our promotional and instructional materials (including but not limited to newsletters, advertisements, brochures, social media posts, and etc). Students are never identified by their full name or other identifying factors unless given written consent from the student or student's parent/guardian.
