Voice Teacher

  • BM Vocal Performance; San Francisco State University

Rachel Larsen is a voice and piano teacher with over 10 years of experience teaching adults and children ranging from complete beginners to recording artists. Her passion for music is equally driven by her passion as an educator and continued studies as a life-long student of music.

Rachel began as a highly motivated child of music, taking voice and piano lessons from a young age. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Music and Minor in Special Education from San Francisco State University. Rachel’s expertise spans from classical to pop in both piano and voice. She has been an avid cross-genre performer with a resume featuring performances with The San Francisco Symphony Chorus, The Philippine Saringhimig Singers, Lamplighters Musical Theater, and a variety of acapella, jazz, and commercial cover band projects.

As someone who took piano and voice lessons from a young age, Rachel understands the experience and needs of children who go on to build meaningful relationships with their music teachers. As a teacher, Rachel is patient, warm, and open-minded.  She is known to have a nurturing personality, whose approach towards music education values play and opportunities for students to self-determine their own musical tastes and styles. Rachel loves to see her students go from reserved and unsure, to confident and expressive musicians.

Rachel continues her education in music pedagogy with completed courses and seminars through Vocology in Practice, David Stroud Teacher Training: Contemporary Music, Shannon Coates Teacher Training: Child Pedagogy, and The Full Voice: Child Pedagogy.

When Rachel isn’t teaching, she enjoys relaxing with a cozy game on her Nintendo Switch, drinking fruit tea, and of course, singing and playing music on her own and with friends.
